Frank and Michael talk to students. We made most of our calls at night because of the time difference. |
March 23. It has been so much fun to have the satellite telephone along on this trip! The phone made it possible to upload pictures and journal entries from Wamba, where no internet access was available. Even better, it made it possible to talk to several classes at three different schools in two states. Here’s who we’ve heard from:
Mr. Wiley talked to his class in Los Angeles from Lewa and from Wamba
I talked to Miss Larsen’s class, Mrs. Drozd’s class, Mrs. Foster’s class, Mrs. Kochel’s class, and two of Mrs. Cutt’s classes in 5 separate phone calls to Tabernacle, NJ from Lewa.
Michael Fritzen from the Los Angeles Zoo and I each talked to one of Miss Barrett’s classes in Mt. Laurel, NJ.
You all had such great questions and the phone calls were really fun. We wish we had been able to connect with Mr. Ryder’s class in Florida from Africa, but maybe we can work something out for later on.
Oh, and we know there are more questions to answer that are showing up as comments to the blog posts. We won’t forget those either. I’m hoping some of my Earthwatch teammates will want to address some of those when they get back home and have access to the internet so that you’ll get some different perspectives!
